Global Bioethics Initiative (GBI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering public awareness and understanding of bioethical issues, as well as to exploring solutions to bioethical challenges. Each summer, GBI hosts an International Bioethics Summer School.
The goals of this program are to: * Review important ethical, philosophical, and social problems in medicine, health, and biomedical research from a global perspective * Develop critical skills for evaluating and articulating ethical and philosophical claims, arguments, and goals frequently found in medical and biomedical research literature and policies * Formulate, present, and defend ethical positions on a bioethical issue and to be able to communicate these ideas and conclusions effectively * Cultivate networking skills, and foster contacts with academics, healthcare professionals, policy decision makers, bioethicists and lawyers, among others This year's program, "Global Bioethics, Human Rights and Public Policy," will be held in New York City from June 19- June 30, 2017.
