![]() In a world increasingly filled with darkness, Elie Wiesel was a beacon of light. He was a voice for those unable to speak, an advocate for those unable to fight, and most importantly, he was a reminder that even in the face of humanity's greatest evils, goodness can and will prevail. To me and so many others who are dedicated to keeping the memory of those who perished during the Holocaust alive, he was an inspiration. As Elie Wiesel once said, 'there may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." I founded the Maimonides Institute for Medicine, Ethics and the Holocaust so that I could do my part to fight these injustices and make the world a better place for future generations. Elie Wiesel taught me and countless others to never give up, despite how bleak the world may sometimes seem. He taught us that one person can make a difference, and that it is each person's duty to speak out against hatred and injustice. Today, as we mourn his passing, MIMEH pledges to continue the work Elie Wiesel started by making sure that the world never forgets his story of survival and hope. I believe that we are entrusted with a great responsibility, and we must not take this lightly. We must ensure that his legacy lives on through our work. In his honor, we must vow "never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation." On behalf of myself, MIMEH, and all of those whose lives have been changed by his words and actions, we express our gratitude to Elie Wiesel, and we mourn his passing. May his memory, like his legacy, be a blessing.

Very well said, Dr. Gallin. The work you are doing is inspiring. Elie Wiesel would be proud.
